Ahead of the July 12 local government elections in Lagos State, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a reconciliation committee to address grievances arising from the party’s recent primary elections.
The initiative follows several protests and petitions that trailed the outcome of the primaries, with some aspirants expressing dissatisfaction over the process.
After reviewing the reports submitted by the Appeal Committee, the party leadership resolved to activate its internal conflict resolution mechanism.
According to the party’s spokesperson, Mr Seye Oladejo, the reconciliation committee has been decentralised into senatorial districts for effective engagement and timely delivery.
In Lagos East Senatorial District, the committee is chaired by Dr Lateef Ibirogba, with Saheed Afonja, Sumbo Onitiri, and Sade Bakare as members.
Chief (Mrs) Sarah Sosan, a former Deputy Governor of the state, heads the Lagos Central Senatorial District committee. Other members include Funso Ologunde, Adedoyin Banjo, and Adigun Olalekan.
For Lagos West 1 Senatorial District, Otunba Bode Oyedele serves as chairman, supported by Chief Jide Damazio, Alhaji Aleshinloye, and Comfort Olalere.
The Lagos West 2 Senatorial District committee is led by Alhaji Mutiu Are, with Hon. Jumoke Okoya, Otunba Kehinde Adeniyi, and Adeola Rashidat as members.
“The State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, acknowledged the wealth of experience of the committee members whose membership cuts across various interests in the party.
“He admonished them to be painstaking and assured that all aggrieved members are pacified and assured of better days ahead in a united party,” Oladejo said in a statement on Tuesday.
The committee has two weeks to turn in its report.
