The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has commenced a statewide electronic registration and re-registration of members to expand its membership and strengthen the party ahead of future political activities.
The exercise was launched on Tuesday by Governor Dapo Abiodun, who said it would help the party build a stronger and more united structure across the state.
He described the APC as the largest and most successful political party in Africa and urged members to take the exercise seriously.
Speaking through his deputy, Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the governor said the e-registration would allow new members to join the party easily while creating a transparent and reliable membership database.
He explained that the technology-driven process would reduce fraud, improve accuracy and eliminate the problem of fake or inflated membership figures.
“This is a collective responsibility. Our leaders, ward executives, and field officers must work together to deliver a seamless, inclusive, and hitch-free registration process. The era of fake or inflated membership figures is over,” Abiodun said.
The governor also called on party leaders and stakeholders at all levels to mobilise supporters across Ogun State and ensure wide participation.
APC chairman in the state, Chief Yemi Sanusi, said members should view the exercise as a means to unite and strengthen the party, not as a personal project.
“This registration is not about personal gain; it is about consolidating our strength as a party and positioning APC for continued leadership and electoral success,” Sanusi said.
He added that party leaders in all 236 wards should give full support to the exercise.
Sanusi also assured members that more registration centres and officials would be deployed where needed so that no genuine supporter would be left out.
Several top party leaders were registered electronically at the event, including the deputy governor, Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly Oludaisi Elemide, Secretary to the State Government Tokunbo Talabi, and the governor’s Chief of Staff, Toyin Taiwo.
The APC has encouraged its members and supporters to participate actively and help mobilise others as the party works to build a stronger and more inclusive base in Ogun State.
