A frontline All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Iwo, Engr. Alamu Akeem Adelani, has urged party stakeholders in Osun State to rally behind Omooba Dotun Babayemi as the party’s flagbearer for the 2026 governorship election.
In a statement issued and made available to newsmen, Adelani described Babayemi as the most credible aspirant with the vision and capacity to return the APC to power in the state.
According to him, “With the gracious decision of our respected former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to step aside from the 2026 governorship race, I come before you with a sincere and urgent plea. At this critical juncture for our great party in Osun State, we must unite behind the one candidate who possesses both the capacity to win and the vision to lead – Omooba Dotun Babayemi”
He highlighted Babayemi’s record in job creation, noting that his partnerships with the private sector had established training centers that provided employment opportunities for Osun youths.
According to him, Babayemi’s agricultural initiative, Atunto-Osun Farms, has boosted rural enterprises and improved livelihoods in many communities.
Adelani said, “What makes Babayemi the ideal standard-bearer for our party is his remarkable record of job creation across Osun State. Through various initiatives and partnerships, he has established training centers with private sector that have empowered our youth and created meaningful employment opportunities in communities that have long been neglected. His work in boosting agricultural enterprises (ATUNTO-OSUN FARMS) has particularly benefited our rural populations.”
The APC chieftain also emphasized Babayemi’s wide political appeal, pointing out that members of opposition parties had embraced his message of unity and development.
“Beyond our party, Babayemi has shown an extraordinary ability to attract support from across political divides. Members of opposition parties including PDP and ADC have been drawn to his message of unity and development. This rare cross-party appeal gives him an electoral advantage that no other aspirant can match in a general election.”
He added that Babayemi’s grassroots mobilization had strengthened the party’s structures, as he had consistently visited local communities to engage directly with residents.
Adelani further noted Babayemi’s empowerment programs, which include scholarships, medical outreaches, and water projects that have positively impacted ordinary citizens across the state.
He stressed that Babayemi’s political network, business acumen, and philanthropic record positioned him as the best candidate to lead Osun towards progress.
Adelani urged APC leaders to embrace the growing consensus among residents in support of Babayemi’s candidacy, warning against divisions within the party.
He noted that with Babayemi as the APC candidate, victory for the party in 2026 was certain.
