APC Must Be ‘Fumigated’ Out Of Power In Lagos – Rhodes-Vivour

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State, has accused the ruling party of fostering corruption in Lagos, emphasizing that it is time to remove the party from power.

Rhodes-Vivour made this statement on Wednesday, emphasizing that the level of corruption within the party reflects their utter disregard for the citizens of Lagos.

His comments follow allegations that the Lagos State House of Assembly, under the leadership of the impeached former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, spent N17 billion to construct a gate.

Weeks ago, the Lagos State Anti-Corruption Coalition, an anti-corruption group, petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing the Assembly’s leadership of spending this massive sum on a gate.

The group also alleged that the Assembly spent N200 million on its 22nd thanksgiving service.

In response to the accusations, Obasa denied the claims, describing them as politically motivated, especially in light of the 2027 elections.

However, Rhodes-Vivour criticized the spending, suggesting that the N17 billion could have been better utilized to build a standard school in each of the state’s local governments.

He added that it could have covered the salaries and welfare of every teacher in Lagos for an entire year.

“How does any reasonable representative, who feels the pulse of his/her constituents agree to spend N17 billion on a gate?,” Rhodes-Vivour queried in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

“An amount that can build a standard school in every local government in Lagos. That Amount can pay for the salaries and welfare of every teacher in Lagos for a whole year.”

He continued, “The level of corruption in the APC and the audacity with which they carry on demonstrates their complete disregard for citizens, most of whom they view as subjects. These parasites must be fumigated out of office in Lagos.”
