Ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has denied reports suggesting that he is in talks with former Governor Rauf Aregbesola to support a joint political interest.
In a statement issued by the spokesperson of his campaign organisation, the reports (not by Naija Times, was described as false.
According to the statement, claims that the APC National Secretary reached out to Aregbesola for reconciliation and possible alliance were baseless.
It further stressed that such a move was unimaginable, especially as Aregbesola was no longer a member of the APC.
Basiru is one of the aspirants seeking the party’s ticket ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August next year.
