A spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has confirmed that the party sent invitations for its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to all members, including former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

Morka made this known during an interview last night, hours after the NEC meeting held on Blantyre Street, Abuja.

The meeting was attended by APC governors from Edo, Benue, Ondo, Ekiti, Kaduna, Jigawa, Nasarawa, Yobe, Niger, Lagos, Kogi, Ogun, and Imo, as well as the deputy governor of Ebonyi. Former governors of Kogi, Kebbi, Niger, Zamfara, and Plateau were also present.

The Party leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, were in attendance.

The session was presided over by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.

However, notable absentees included former President Muhammadu Buhari, ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Rivers state governor and ex-Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi.

This NEC meeting—the first since Tinubu assumed office in May 2023—came just a day after the party’s national caucus meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Some APC chieftains, including El-Rufai and former National Vice Chairman Salihu Lukman, have previously raised concerns over a lack of internal democracy within the party.
