The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is free to return to the ruling party and collaborate with President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Show on Monday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the party remains open to welcoming Kwankwaso or any other Nigerian willing to contribute to the success of Tinubu’s administration.
“He is a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Anyone who wishes to join APC may join APC,” Morka stated.
Naijaonpoint reports that Morka emphasised that the APC values inclusiveness and would not shut its doors to willing contributors from across the political spectrum.
The APC spokesperson said, “Our doors are open. We welcome those who want to join our party, who want to work with us, who want to work with the President to achieve the objectives he’s set for his administration.”
He described Kwankwaso as a respected political figure, saying the party would not object if he expressed interest in returning.
Morka added, “Kwankwaso is an elite, he is one of Nigeria’s eminent citizens and he is free, as a political agent, to make decisions for himself, to decide to join our party, to join any party, or to remain in his party.”
Kwankwaso, a former Kano State governor, was previously a member of the APC before defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2018 and eventually joining the NNPP in March 2022, where he contested the 2023 presidential election.
