APC Stakeholders Demand Power Shift To Kajuru For Chikun/Kajuru Bye-election

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State have urged the party to shift power to Kajuru Local Government Area for the forthcoming Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency bye-election in the state.

The call was made during a press conference in Kaduna on Saturday, led by Hon. Markus Yari, where the stakeholders unanimously endorsed Hon. Fidelix Joseph Bagudu as their preferred candidate for the House of Representatives seat.

Yari argued that zoning the APC ticket to Kajuru would foster inclusiveness, equity, and enhance the party’s chances in the crucial August 16 bye-election.

“We are passionately appealing to our great party to zone the ticket to Kajuru. This will cement the bond of brotherhood and guarantee wider electoral support across both local governments,” he said.

The Whistler reports that the bye-election followed the death of Hon. Abubakar Adams Ekene, a member of the House of Representatives representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Kaduna State, and Chairman House Committee on Sports, in July, 2024.

Adams, who won the seat in the House of Representatives during the 2023 general elections under the Labour Party, hailed from Chikun.

Meanwhile, the stakeholders emphasized the need to give Kajuru an opportunity for representation, a move they believed would strengthen the APC’s prospects in the constituency.

Bagudu, described as a grassroots politician with the capacity to deliver on robust representation, received widespread endorsement during the meeting.

“Hon. Bagudu is a trusted leader who can consolidate the gains of our party and effectively represent our constituency at the National Assembly,” Yari added.

The stakeholders also lauded President Bola Tinubu for his recent visit to the state, particularly for commissioning the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital in Millennium City, Kujama, Chikun LGA.

They also commended the President for approving key projects, including the Kaduna Light Rail and Birnin Gwari road reconstruction.

Highlighting the party’s progress under Tinubu’s administration, the group reaffirmed their commitment to his leadership and Governor Uba Sani’s re-election bid.

“President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani’s people-oriented programmes have continued to resonate positively with the masses. We stand firmly behind them,” Yari said.

Prominent APC figures in Chikun attended the press conference, emphasizing that granting Kajuru the chance to produce the APC candidate would promote unity and secure the party’s future in the constituency.

The stakeholders concluded with a strong appeal to the party leadership to heed their demand, highlighting its importance in fostering inclusivity and winning broader support.
