WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won all 21 chairmanship and councillorship seats in Anambra State.
The local government election, held on Saturday, September 28, was conducted by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC). The results were announced late Sunday in Awka by ANSIEC Chairman, Genevieve Osakwe.
Osakwe confirmed that APGA secured all 21 chairmanship positions, as well as all councillorship seats in the state’s 21 local government areas, as declared at the ward levels. She described the election as the fairest, noting that the commission meticulously collated and analyzed the results to avoid any errors.
During the announcement, no opposition candidates, political parties, or their agents were present at the ANSIEC office where the election results were declared. The ANSIEC chairman, who read out the total votes and names of the APGA candidates, declared them winners and returned elected, having received the highest number of votes.
Osakwe said: “This is to affirm the result of the chairmanship and councillorship election held on September 28, 2024. “All the scores and the parties were announced at the polling units yesterday. We are here today to affirm the results as recorded. “Election held at all the polling units across Anambra State on September 28, and it was free, fair and credible”, she said.
