Apple and Nvidia could invest in OpenAI

ChatGPT and OpenAI phones

We all know that OpenAI was lucky enough to land a massive chunk of change from Microsoft along with other investors. However, while that’s paid the bills so far, the company could possibly be in for some more money from major tech companies. According to a new report, Apple and Nvidia might invest in OpenAI.

So far, OpenAI has been able to create some rather impressive and industry-defining AI. However, as jaw-dropping as it is, the company isn’t making enough money from its venture to last without funding. It has its ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise platforms and it sells access to its API. However, running an AI company is extremely expensive.

Companies that develop and train AI models, for the time being, are operating at a loss. This is why companies like Google charge for access to its most advanced AI tools. Also, Apple and Samsung are planning on providing their AI features at a monthly fee. So, AI startups like OpenAI, Anthropic, and others can’t sustain without getting billions of dollars from other tech firms and venture capitalists.

Apple and Nvidia could invest in OpenAI

Right now, this news isn’t finalized. OpenAI is preparing for its next round of funding, and it’s seeking some serious cash for its ventures going forward. We don’t know how much money it’s seeking, but the company has some heavy hitters potentially lined up to throw money its way.

According to a new report, Apple and Nvidia are among the companies that could invest in OpenAI. Nvidia’s fortunes have exploded over the past year because of the slew of companies buying boatloads of its chips to train AI models. It eventually became a $2 trillion company.

As for Apple…. that company’s fortune needs no explaining. Both Nvidia and Apple have some strong ties with OpenAI, so this news shouldn’t come as a shock. Apple is integrating ChatGPT into Apple Intelligence and Nvidia has been a key supplier of GPUs for OpenAI.

At this moment, we don’t know if these companies are going to go through with it. We only know that the companies are considering it. Also, we’re sure that both companies are considering what potential scrutiny they’ll get from regulators.

Both Nvidia and Microsoft declined to comment. Also, OpenAI and Apple didn’t immediately comment.
