Apple's new HomePod with a display could arrive late in 2025

If you are waiting for Apple’s long-rumored HomePod with a smart display, the wait might extend further. Popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reveals that the company might launch the new HomePod late in 2025. Previously, Kuo had hinted that Apple might release the new HomePod by the end of this year.

Apple’s new HomePod with smart home display is likely to launch late in 2025

Reports about a HomePod with a smart display have been surfacing since 2021. The upcoming smart home speaker could feature somewhere between a 6 to 7-inch display and include support for Apple Intelligence. Kuo also says that the A18 processor could power the new HomePod.

The analyst also hints that challenges related to software development are the main reason behind the further delay. Apple isn’t reportedly facing any hardware issues, though. According to Kuo’s latest report, Apple is also working on several HomePod variants with different types of smart displays.

It’s worth noting that this report is in line with previous claims made by popular Apple insider and Bloomberg reporter, Mark Gurman. We’ve already heard rumors about Apple working on a HomePod-style device with an iPad-like display.

A few previous reports also mentioned that the iPhone 16 Pro maker is also experimenting with a device with a smart display mounted on a robotic arm. Gurman had previously hinted that Apple likely won’t launch these devices before next year.

The device will include more smart home features than what Apple offers now

Apple will reportedly also introduce a bunch of smart home features with the new HomePod compared to what’s available currently. Kuo also expects the initial shipment to be around 500,000 units in the second half of 2025. He also names a few suppliers who will collaborate with Apple to mass produce the new HomePod.

Tianma Microelectronics will reportedly be the exclusive panel supplier for the new HomePod, while BYD Electronics will be the exclusive assembler. Moreover, Kuo stands by his previous prediction about Apple launching a smart home IP camera in 2026 that will work wirelessly with the upcoming HomePod.
