Aregbesola’s Group Dumps APC, Plans New Political Path

The Omoluabi Progressives, a political group led by former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has announced its decision to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The group, in a statement signed by its Organising and Publicity Secretary, Oluwaseun Abosede, revealed that the decision to quit the APC was reached during its monthly meeting held in Ilesa on Sunday.

Abosede explained that the resolution was unanimously supported by members from all 332 wards across Osun State, citing internal disagreements within the APC as the primary reason for their departure.

The group outlined several grievances that led to its decision, including:

– Ostracisation of its members from party activities;

– Suspension and expulsion of leaders without fair hearing;

– Continuous denigration of the group’s structure;

– Dissatisfaction with the handling of Osun APC’s intra-party crisis, which contributed to the party’s poor performance in the last election cycle.

According to the statement, members of the group affirmed their readiness to align with another political camp ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

Addressing the group, Aregbesola, the immediate-past Minister of Interior, praised members for their dedication to the principles of character, integrity, and good governance.

“I am indeed happy that all of you have spoken with one voice. It is not just one voice but a united front to lead the way to our collective victory in the journey ahead,” Aregbesola stated.

He urged members to remain committed to their vision of transforming Osun State through responsible leadership and assured them that the ongoing efforts to position the Omoluabi Progressives for the future would soon yield results.

Aregbesola emphasized the need for inclusivity in the group’s approach, urging members to attract people from diverse political, religious, and socio-cultural backgrounds.

“We are open to all, regardless of political, religious, or socio-cultural leanings. We have the numbers, strength, and political acumen to provide leadership that will make Osun the toast of its peers,” he added.

The former governor expressed confidence in the group’s ability to chart a new course for Osun State, declaring, “By the grace of God, we shall succeed.”
