Arise TV journalist, Rufai Oseni, has debunked viral social media claims suggesting the station suspended him.
Taking to his 𝕏 handle on Friday, Oseni clarified that he is currently on a scheduled leave, which was publicly announced on-air by Arise TV weeks earlier.
“The lies and fabrications are terrible. Social media na wa,” he wrote, dismissing the suspension rumours as baseless.
He added in another post, “I have worked for about a year, and I decided to go on leave. After I rest small, I go return. I love you all.”
Oseni noted that his leave officially commenced two weeks ago on a Thursday and was announced during the station’s broadcast.
“At the start of my leave on Thursday last two weeks, it was announced on TV I went on leave. Empirical facts dey, so data bois that lied about suspension una jam Zuma rock,” he tweeted.
In other news, Rufai shared details on how much Nigerian ambassadors earn each month.
Naijaonpoint reports that his explanation came after President Bola Tinubu sent another batch of 32 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for screening.
Rufai, in a post on 𝕏, explained that the salaries of ambassadors fall under the Consolidated Diplomatic, Consular and Foreign Service Cadre Salary Structure used in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassadors are placed at the top grade level, usually GL 17, and receive different allowances when posted abroad.
He said that basic pay is not high compared with what diplomats earn in some other countries, but the allowances make up a large part of the overall package.
