Armie Hammer returns in the first trailer for Frontier Crucible. Significant controversy surrounded Armie Hammer after allegations from multiple women came forward and accused him of abuse in 2021. Hammer denied the allegations and ultimately did not face criminal charges, but he exited several projects he had signed onto. His last movie was the Agatha Christie adaptation Death on the Nile, which was released in 2022, but filmed in 2019.

Hammer now returns in Frontier Crucible. The cast of the upcoming gritty Western movie features Myles Clohessy, William H. Macy, Thomas Jane, Mary Stickley, Eli Brown, Ryan Masson, Zane Holtz, and Eddie Spears. The story, which follows Merrick Breckford and a group of dangerous outlaws who must fight to survive after accidentally killing an Apache scout, is based on the 1961 novel Desert Stake-Out by Harry Whittington. The adaptation is directed by Travis Mills.

Now, Well Go USA Entertainment has released the Frontier Crucible trailer, which provides a close look at Hammer in the upcoming movie. The trailer begins with Macy’s character telling Breckford (Clohessy) that he wants medical supplies transported down south, and Breckford is the only one who can get the job done.

The footage goes on to establish that the story is set in Arizona during the year 1874. This is followed by Breckford teaming up with the outlaws, one of whom is played by Hammer, as they navigate a harrowing journey and the consequences of killing the Apache scout. Check out the trailer below:

Frontier Crucible is a smaller movie compared to some of Armie Hammer blockbuster movies he has previously starred in, including The Social Network, The Lone Ranger, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and On The Basis of Sex. Nevertheless, the film is momentous for Hammer’s career, which seemed as if it had permanently ended after the allegations came forward in 2021.

Returning in a movie like Frontier Crucible instead of a blockbuster is consistent with what Hammer told The Hollywood Reporter in February, emphasizing that “I don’t need to be back making studio films” and “I’m happy just making smaller, fun movies for now.” This is also true of his other upcoming movies, Citizen Vigilante and Night Driver, both of which are now in post-production.

With Frontier Crucible coming to theaters and digital on December 5, it will not be long until Hammer’s first released film since Death on the Nile in 2022 is available to watch. Beyond Hammer, the movie also capitalizes on the current popularity and resurgence of the Western genre.
