The Nigerian Army on Friday confirmed that its troops neutralised dozens of terrorists, arrested 57 suspects, and rescued 45 kidnapped victims across Nigeria in the past week.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, disclosed this in Abuja during the weekly military operations briefing.
Onoja said troops recovered large batches of arms, ammunition, and vehicles while dismantling terror and criminal networks across multiple operational zones in the country.
In the North-East region, troops of Operation Hadin Kai eliminated several terrorists, seized multiple terror camps, and rescued eight kidnapped commuters.
The defence spokesman noted that 11 terror collaborators were also arrested and handed over for further interrogation.
He added that air interdiction operations in Sambisa Forest neutralised additional insurgents and destroyed terrorists’ storage facilities.
Under Operation Fasan Yamma, troops killed multiple terrorists and bandits, arrested 15 suspects, and rescued 13 kidnapped victims across Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna, and Niger states.
He disclosed that weapons and vehicles were recovered during field operations, alongside livestock intercepted from terror camps.
According to Onoja, troops also intercepted a suspected arms dealer caught transporting military-grade rifles with ₦4 million in cash and combat ammunition.
Speaking on operations in the North-Central region, Onoja confirmed that troops rescued 19 kidnap victims and arrested 11 terror suspects, including Umar Idi, also known as “Lere.”
The extremists were reported to have been taken down after coordinated intelligence tracking across high-risk hotspots in the Middle Belt.
In the Niger-Delta, troops stormed illegal refining hubs and destroyed 11 makeshift refineries used for oil bunkering and crude theft.
Onoja confirmed that troops foiled oil theft operations valued at over ₦173 million, arrested 13 suspects, and seized refined siphoned crude stored underground in metal tanks.
In the South-East region, troops of Operation Udo Ka rescued five kidnap victims, arrested seven criminal suspects in Enugu, and dismantled local terror hideouts.
The defence spokesman confirmed additional terror camps were neutralised via joint air-ground tactical offensives.
He further confirmed that Enugu’s forests were cleared via aerial bombardment of terror safe havens.
Onoja praised Nigerian Army troops for their courage and professionalism, while appealing for public intelligence support.
The defence spokesman reaffirmed military commitment to restoring peace and national stability.
