Nigerian Army troops serving under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have successfully neutralized a sophisticated aerial threat after repelling a terrorist drone attack in Borno State.
The assault targeted the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Molai located in Delwa village, Konduga Local Government Area. Sources at Army Headquarters confirmed that the encounter took place on December 16. During the heat of the engagement, the terrorists launched an aerial offensive using four armed drones rigged with explosives, all of which were brought down by the vigilant troops on the ground.
Military authorities confirmed that troops across Sectors 2, 3, and 4 of OPHK are currently sustaining offensive operations under Desert Sanity IV. Following the foiled attack, exploitation efforts are ongoing to locate the origin of the drones and eliminate the operators responsible.
The military’s successes extended beyond the northeast.
According to the source: “In a related development under other ongoing operations, troops conducting Operation Safe Haven (OPEP) raided criminal hideouts and an illegal mining site at Rafin Bauna and Gero mountains in Plateau on Dec. 16, arresting three suspects. Items recovered include a fabricated rifle, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, a generator, three shovels and water pipes. The suspects and recovered items are in custody for further action.”
In the Middle Belt, the Nigerian Army’s Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) recorded a breakthrough by securing the freedom of a citizen held by bandits. Troops patrolling Yelewata in the Guma Local Government Area of Benue State intercepted a group of kidnappers, who fled and abandoned their captive.
The source explained that the victim had been abducted from his shop in Gidan Waya, Nasarawa State, on December 14, but was safely recovered when the criminals retreated upon sighting the military’s approach.
