Army Troops Kill 11 Terrorists In Sokoto Ambush

Army kill

Troops of the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army have neutralised 11 terrorists in a precision ambush at Kurawa Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation, conducted under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, took place at about 6:45 a.m. on Sunday after troops received credible human intelligence on the movement of a terrorist group attempting to cross towards Tara Village in the same council area.

According to the sources, the ambush was executed by the 8 Division Garrison Strike Team, which successfully intercepted the terrorists along their suspected crossing path.

The operation, the source noted, was “swift, surgical and professionally executed,” resulting in the killing of 11 terrorists. Eight AK-47 rifles were recovered during the engagement.

A follow-up exploitation mission to clear the surrounding area is currently ongoing.

Security insiders described the operation as one of the latest successes under Operation FANSAN YAMM, an intensified offensive targeting terrorist and bandit networks across Sokoto, Zamfara and adjoining corridors.

Military authorities said additional details would be released after the completion of the battlefield assessment.

Reports indicate that the 8 Division has, in recent months, ramped up both kinetic and intelligence-led operations, degrading several criminal enclaves and improving security in communities across the North-West.
