Arokodare hits 20 for the season in Genk’s 4-0 win over Gent

Super Eagles and Genk centre-forward, Toluwalase Emmanuel Arokodare, scored his 20th goal of the season in his side’s Genk-Gent derby win, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old lanky striker is enjoying his most prolific career season with the Belgian side, crowning it with a call-up to the Nigerian National team, even making his debut during the March International break.

On return to action in club football, the former Koln striker fired Thorsten Fink’s side to a 4-0 win over their rivals in the Belgian Pro League play-offs.

It wasn’t a smooth ride for Arokodare, as he missed from twelve yards earlier in the game, but a brilliant turn saw him score his 20th goal across all competitions this season, which is a career-high for him.

Jarne Steuckers missed a penalty kick in the 15th minute, while Arokodare stepped up eight minutes later, but his effort was just wide off the left. However, as the game grew, Genk dominated.

Genk are currently top of their play-off group, four points above Club Onyedika’s Club Brugge. Up next for the Smurfs is a high-end against Anderlecht.
