ARSENAL manager Mikel Arteta and his Manchester United counterpart Ruben Amorim have both been nominated for the English Premier League Manager of the Month for October, with Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and United forward Bryan Mbeumo in the running for the player prize.

Arteta led Arsenal to the top of the table during the month under review, the Gunners winning all three matches without conceding a single goal.

Under the Spaniard’s guidance, Arsenal became the first English team ever to win six matches across all competitions in a month without conceding a goal.

On his part, Amorim also won three matches with United in October, turning the club’s fortunes around after a dismal start to the season.

It is the first time since his appointment last November that Amorim has guided Manchester United to three consecutive Premier League victories.

Arteta and Amorim are up against Aston Villa’s Unai Emery (also three wins out of three) and Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth (two wins and a draw) for the award.

The contenders for the Player of the Month prize are led by Haaland, who scored three goals in three games in October, and Mbeumo, who registered three goals and an assist as United defeated Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton.

The two are contesting with six other players for the prize, including Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber, Nordi Mukiele of Sunderland and Marty Cash of Aston Villa.

The others are Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle, Junior Kroupi of Bournemouth and Brentford’s Igor Thiago.

Fans have until Monday to vote for the manager and player of their choice.

The votes of fans will be combined with those of a panel of football experts to determine the winner, who will be announced next week.
