Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the defection of Aliyu Bello, a former youth leader and financial secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement posted on his social media handle, Atiku described Bello’s move as a bold step that highlights the ADC’s emergence as a credible alternative to the ruling party.

He hailed Bello as a grassroots mobilizer whose entry into the ADC would strengthen the opposition’s efforts ahead of future elections.

“I warmly congratulate Aliyu for his historic decision to unite with other patriots in the effort to rescue Nigeria. His membership will bring immense value to the ADC and to the cause of ending the incompetent and clueless government of Tinubu,” Atiku wrote.

He further urged Nigerian youths to embrace the ADC, stressing that the party represents inclusivity and offers young people the opportunity to play a central role in leadership.

Bello’s defection was formally announced at an event attended by ADC National Youth Leader, Balarabe Rufa’i; former Kaduna State Governor and Northwest ADC leader, Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai; as well as other party stakeholders including Mallam Jafaru Abbas, Mallam Bashir Sa’idu, and Suleiman Ibrahim Dabo.
