Atiku’s Aide Slams Presidency Over Tinubu’s Turkey Trip

A Special Assistant on Public Communication to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has faulted the Presidency over what he described as a lack of transparency surrounding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing diplomatic visit to Turkey.

Naijaonpoint reports that Ibe, in a statement posted via his official Facebook page on Monday, criticised the presidential communication team for failing to provide clear information on the duration of the President’s trip and his expected return date.

He noted that the Presidency, in a statement issued on January 25, only confirmed that Tinubu would leave Abuja on Sunday, January 26, 2026, for a multi-day state visit to Turkey.

However, Ibe raised concerns that the statement merely said the President would return at the conclusion of the visit, a phrase he described as vague and lacking in accountability.

Atiku’s aide argued that the ambiguity reflects what he believes is a growing pattern in Tinubu’s foreign travels, where return dates are left deliberately unstated.

President Tinubu’s visit to Turkey is said to be focused on enhancing bilateral diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and the Republic of Turkey. However, as of Monday, no detailed itinerary or official timeline for the trip had been released by the Presidency.
