Atletico Madrid have made initial contact over a potential summer move for Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman, as interest in the Atalanta forward intensifies, Soccernet.ng reports.
Lookman, 27, has emerged as one of the most in-demand forwards in Europe following a stellar season with the Serie A side.
He scored 20 goals and provided six assists across all competitions during the 2024–25 campaign, adding to his growing reputation after his heroic hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen in 2024.
Atletico Madrid target Super Eagles star Lookman
According to Corriere dello Sport via Europa Calcio, Atletico have already initiated discussions with Lookman’s representatives, although Atalanta remain firm on their €60 million valuation.
The Spanish giants are prepared to battle Napoli for the Nigerian’s signature, with Antonio Conte reportedly identifying Lookman as a key target to bolster his attacking options.

Conte, working closely with Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna, is looking to reinforce the squad that reclaimed the Scudetto under his guidance.
However, the club faces stiff competition, with Premier League powerhouses Liverpool and Manchester United, as well as Barcelona, also monitoring Lookman’s situation closely.

Since joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022, Lookman has been a revelation. In just 108 appearances, he has amassed 52 goals and 25 assists, a clear testament to his effectiveness in the final third.
Across his professional career, the former Everton and Fulham winger has notched 87 goals and 43 assists — contributing to 130 goals in 318 matches for clubs in England, Germany and Italy.
Lookman is a fan favourite in Bergamo after playing an influential role as Atalanta lifted the Europa League last year to clinch their first-ever European honour.
