Afrobeats superstar, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, also known as Ayra Starr, has addressed claims that she cannot start a family or have a boyfriend for the next five years.

Naijaonpoint reports that the singer recently signed a five-year management deal with Roc Nation, which is owned by American music executive Sean Carter, aka Jay-Z.

Following the announcement, there have been rumours in some sections of the media that a clause in her recent five-year contract with Roc Nation barred her from having a boyfriend or starting a family.

“Ayra Starr isn’t allowed to have a boyfriend or start a family during her five-year contract with Roc Nation,” a podcaster claimed in a video making the rounds on X.

Reacting to the video, Ayra Starr wrote, “Does Ayra Starr know about this?”

The singer also reposted a tweet which reads, “Them lie on top your head for broad daylight,” confirming that the report was fake.

Meanwhile, Ayra Starr has revealed the story behind a photo she took during her first appearance at the Met Gala.

Naijaonpoint reports that the 23-year-old singer, who attended the 2025 edition of the popular fashion event in New York, explained that one of her most talked-about pictures was taken in the bathroom with American singer Coco Jones and another R&B artist.

She described the moment as a fun one, saying that despite being in the photo with Tems, who is also African, she playfully saw herself as the first African to snap a bathroom selfie at the Met Gala.

“First African to take a bathroom selfie at the MET Gala, period!,” she said.

Ayra Starr was among several African celebrities who graced the Met Gala red carpet on May 5 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Others in attendance included Burna Boy, Tems, South African singer Tyla, author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and fashion stylist Swanky Jerry.
