Music executive Jude Okoye has called for a review of Nigeria’s electoral law to set a minimum academic qualification for political aspirants.

Okoye, in a post shared on his Instagram story on Friday, asked why the country allows people without a university education to contest for public office.

Naijaonpoint reports that he argued that it makes no sense for the uneducated to govern the educated.

He suggested that possessing at least a bachelor’s degree should be the benchmark for anyone aiming to hold any political position in Nigeria.

He wrote: “How hard is it to reform our electoral act making at least a Uni bachelors degree a benchmark for qualification to run for any office in nigeria. We can’t have the uneducated leading the educated. Makes zero sense.”

In other news, reality TV star, Tacha Akide, has criticized Nigerian youths for being inactive in the country’s political and social struggles.

Naijaonpoint reports that the former Big Brother Naija housemate, in a post on 𝕏, expressed disappointment with the current generation, describing them as timid and unwilling to make sacrifices for national change.

She compared today’s youth to those of past generations, stating that earlier Nigerians were brave enough to get involved in national power and even risked their lives for what they believed in.

She said the youth of today are more focused on leaving the country, creating content online, and chasing comfort.
