Former Senior Special Assistant to Ex-President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media/Digital Communications, Bashir Ahmad, has hailed the new policy by President Donald Trump’s administration banning terrorism backers from entering the United States, describing the move as a welcome development for Nigeria’s peace.
Naijaonpoint recalls that the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, on Wednesday announced far-reaching restrictions on visas for persons who direct, authorise, fund, support or carry out violations of religious freedom.
The announcement specifically declared that the US government will block visas for those who knowingly direct, authorise, fund, support, or carry out violations of religious freedom.
Reacting on Wednesday night in a post on his verified 𝕏 handle, Ahmad said the policy deserves full backing, calling for a blanket ban on all terror enablers destabilising Nigeria.
He wrote, “This is a welcome development. All individuals, whether in Nigeria or abroad, who are causing trouble, fueling destruction or contributing to the killings in our country should be banned. Ban them all.”
In a pointed continuation of his post, Ahmad stressed that insecurity victims include Muslims, rejecting narratives that frame the crisis solely as anti-Christian violence.
“They are also killing my fellow Muslims, not only your Christian brothers and sisters. If they undermine our peace and stability, they should be deprived of the privilege of ever setting foot in the United States again,” he said.
