Bandits Invade Farms In Kaduna, Set Over 200 Bags Of Harvested Maize Ablaze

Some farmers in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been left in deep sorrow after suspected bandits stormed their farms and set ablaze harvested maize.

Reports obtained by Naijaonpoint revealed that the assailants invaded about six farms in Kwaga village and Unguwar Zako and lit up the harvested crops.

The local community, particularly the farmers whose crops were affected, expressed their disbelief and sorrow over the devastation caused by this attack.

According to reports, the incident took place on Sunday night when the assailants invaded the farms and ignited the harvested maize.

Daily Trust claimed to have obtained a video that captured the scorched remnants of the farms, with the owners offering each other comfort in their time of loss.

Among those impacted is Kabiru Halilu Kwaga, who had harvested over 160 bags of maize last year and was anticipating an even greater yield this season. Unfortunately, all of his crops were consumed by the flames set by the attackers.

Surajo Kwaga, who had gathered 40 bags of maize from his farm last year, also suffered the complete loss of his harvest. Similarly, Malam Dan Gido, who had harvested 50 bags last year and was expecting around 65 bags this year, saw his aspirations extinguished by the fire.

Jibril Haladu Kwaga also experienced the loss of his harvested maize in this incident. The affected farmers have turned to prayer, seeking divine solace for their losses.

Ishaq Usman Kasai, Chairman of the Birnin Gwari-Niger Inter-boundaries Communities Association, confirmed the incident, indicating that the bandits involved are part of a group led by the infamous kingpin Yellow Jamboros, who has been a source of terror for local communities.

The state government, however, has not issued an official statement regarding the incident as of the time of filing this report.
