Armed bandits have abducted six passengers traveling along the Kontagora–Yauri Road, which connects Niger and Kebbi states.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, the attack occurred on Wednesday morning when a commercial Toyota Corolla conveying six passengers from Kontagora in Niger State to Yauri in Kebbi State ran into the armed assailants.
All six occupants of the vehicle were reportedly abducted.
The publication added that the bandits went on to launch fresh assaults on several communities in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State. During the raids on Libale, Iteri, and Isana villages, they kidnapped two residents identified as Oro and Jamilu, set a vehicle ablaze, and rustled an unconfirmed number of cattle.
One person was said to have sustained gunshot injuries during the attacks.
A combined team of troops and local vigilantes has since been deployed to the affected areas and is currently on the trail of the bandits to rescue the abducted victims.
Earlier this month, at least 30 residents were reportedly abducted when bandits attacked Zamfarawa village in the Zugu district, Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The attackers were said to have shot sporadically to scare residents before whisking away the victims to an unknown destination.
