The Sokoto State Police Command says bandits killed two people and abducted several others in Bargaja village, Isa Local Government Area.
In a statement, Ahmed Rufai, police public relations officer, explained that the attackers are suspected to be loyal to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji.
Rufai assured that a detailed account of the incident would be provided once the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area submits a field report to the state command.
“Two were killed but we could not give the exact number of people that were kidnapped,” he said.
“We will get fuller details from the DPO of the local government to determine the number of those abducted.”
The attack comes barely three weeks after a Christmas Day airstrike by US forces targeting terrorists’ positions in Sokoto.
