Barely a week after 38 abducted members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke-Isegun, Eruku, were freed and taken to Ilorin for medical care, bandits have launched yet another attack on the troubled Kwara community, abducting a farmer identified as Annas Aasanru.

Naijaonpoint reports that the latest incident, which occurred on Sunday, November 30, has reignited fear in the community still recovering from repeated violent assaults.

The 38 church members from the Eruku incident regained their freedom after spending five days in captivity, during which three people were killed. They are currently receiving treatment provided by the Kwara State Government at a designated hotel in the GRA area of Ilorin.

Confirming the fresh incident, spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said operatives received a distress report around 2:00 p.m. that four armed men stormed a farmland along Koro Road, Eruku, at about 12:30 p.m. and whisked away the 40-year-old farmer.

“Upon receipt of the report, a joint team of police, military personnel and local vigilante members was immediately deployed to the area for an intensive search and rescue operation,” she said.

Ejire-Adeyemi assured residents that efforts were ongoing to ensure the victim’s safe return.

According to Vanguard, a community leader, who declined to be named for security reasons, said the attackers, suspected to be Fulani/Bororo men, invaded the farm, wielding cutlasses and AK-47 rifles, before abducting Aasanru and fleeing into the bush.

Naijaonpoint reports that Sunday’s abduction marks the second major assault on Eruku within a month, deepening concerns over worsening insecurity in the axis.

Residents say the frequent attacks have left the community in constant fear, with calls growing louder for stronger security presence.
