Bandits who kidnapped ten residents of Tsanyawa Local Government Area, Kano State, have threatened to kill the victims if their families fail to pay ransom.
Naijaonpoint learnt that the abductors are engaging a victim’s father as the channel of communication to reach other affected families across the local council.
The distraught father, who spoke on local radio in Kano, said the bandits were mounting relentless pressure through repeated calls.
He said, “They call me on a daily basis three or even four times, warning me to abide by their requests, or they would kill our family members.”
He said the ransom demanded was far beyond the means of the families involved.
“I told them that the money they are asking for, we have never seen that kind of money, and what we only have is our farmlands with small animals,” he lamented.
The father appealed directly to the Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to intervene and secure their release.
“We asked you our Governor, in the name of God, please help us, they are killing our sons,” he pleaded.
In other news, troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade, Sector 4, Operation Hadin Kai, on Saturday foiled a large-scale invasion by ISWAP and Boko Haram terrorists who launched a coordinated assault on communities in Chibok Local Government, Borno State.
The attack, military sources said, happened during the early hours of Saturday, but soldiers swiftly responded with superior firepower, engaging the gunmen in a two-hour gun battle that forced a retreat.
Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, whose constituency includes Chibok, confirmed the breach in a phone interview with Vanguard, saying he received a distress call from his local coordinator.
“Boko Haram/ISWAP invaded some communities in Chibok, but they were repelled by troops. Unfortunately, two people were killed, and a local church was razed in Kwada village,” Ndume said.
