WATCH THE VIDEO HERE THE Bauchi State Government has implemented a 24-hour curfew in the Katagum Local Government Area in response to the violence that erupted during the #EndBadGovernance protests. Today, protesters set fire to parts of the local government secretariat, damaged vehicles, and vandalized the residence of former Deputy Governor Baba Tela, while also looting properties. The unrest spread across multiple streets in Azare town within Katagum LGA. In light of the extensive damage to government buildings and private properties, Governor Bala Mohammed imposed the curfew to prevent further escalation of the situation. This was announced in a statement issued today by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Kashim. “Given the worsening conditions in Azare and its surroundings, which have resulted in the destruction of public property, theft, and victimization, His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, has approved a 24-hour curfew in the Katagum Local Government Area to manage the situation,” the statement stated. The governor has also instructed all security agencies to respond to the unrest and apprehend those responsible for the violence, while encouraging law-abiding citizens to cooperate with law enforcement during this time.
