Gov. Bala Mohammed

THE Bauchi State Government has presented a supplementary budget of N94.676 billion to the State House of Assembly for approval.

The request was read during yesterday’s session by the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Babayo Akuyam, on behalf of Governor Bala Mohammed.

Akuyam explained that the governor is seeking approval in accordance with Section 122 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to expedite the implementation of priority projects designed to enhance the welfare of Bauchi residents.

“The governor is dedicated to promoting infrastructural development, fostering human capital growth, and strengthening the health and education sectors,” quoted Akuyam from Governor Mohammed’s letter.

Additionally, the House has initiated the establishment of a Food Security and Nutrition Committee to tackle hunger and malnutrition in the state.

Presenting the motion, Majority Leader Akuyam indicated that the committee will aim to improve the nutritional status of Bauchi citizens, particularly among the most vulnerable groups, such as women, children, and internally displaced persons.

“The committee will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of food and nutrition initiatives under the State Ministry of Budget, Economic Planning, and Multilateral Coordination, aligning with the National Multisectoral Strategic Plan of Action for Food and Nutrition,” Akuyam stated.
