THE Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has addressed FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, stating that no one can disrupt the peace of his state.

Speaking today prior to a meeting with the National Working Committee of the party in Bauchi State, Mohammed—who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum declared, “No one can ignite conflict in Bauchi State. Bauchi is abundant with resources. My friend’s comments stem from frustration,” he said.

He further noted, “Perhaps I said something that upset him, but it’s not personal. My friend remains my friend, my responsibilities are my responsibilities, and leadership holds its own weight.”

Regarding internal party matters, Governor Mohammed stated that, “No political party is free from occasional crises. That’s where leadership comes into play. If we have disagreements, they shouldn’t be taken personally. We must not misinterpret our unity.”

He mentioned that these matters would be discussed in the upcoming meeting.

PDP Legal Adviser, Kamaludeen Ajibade, SAN, who led the delegation to Bauchi, explained the purpose of the party’s NWC visit to the North-Eastern State.

“The aim of the visit is to show support for the Governor and commend his leadership as Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum. There have been various challenges within our party, and we must acknowledge that all is not well,” he stated.

Ajibade expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the chairman and other governors are actively addressing these issues and assured that any actions taken by the Governors’ Forum would be executed by the National Working Committee.

Governor Mohammed’s comments follow Wike’s accusations—made three weeks prior—of PDP governors meddling in the party’s affairs in Rivers.

During a mid-August meeting, PDP governors had recognized Siminalayi Fubara, Wike’s former protégé, as the party leader in Rivers, which incited Wike to rally his supporters and organize a congress to solidify their control over the Rivers PDP.
