The Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission, BYSIEC, on Monday issued certificates of return to winners of the April 6 Local Government Area elections.

The handing of the certificates of returns to the 8 Local Government Council Chairmen, and their Vice, all of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, took place at the NUJ, Press Centre, Yenagoa.

Chairman of BYSIEC, Dr Peter Singabele, said the event was in fulfilment of the commission’s mandate to issue certificates of return which is the last step on the part of BYSIEC in the 2024 election.

He said “Once you have your certificate and are sworn in, you can now operate as elected Chairmen of your various council areas as the third tiers of government set up at the grassroots.

Speaking on behalf of the elected Chairmen, the Chairman-elect, Yenagoa LGA, Bulodisiye Ndiwara, thanked BYSIEC for the successful and smooth conclusion of the exercise.
