The Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI) has announced the launch of its national programme, AI Literacy for Everyday People, to promote artificial intelligence education and ethical technology use among Nigerians.
The Communication Director of BBYDI, Mr. Sanni Alausa Issa, made this known on Wednesday during a press conference held at the NUJ Hall in Osogbo, Osun State.
According to Alausa, the initiative aims to make AI education accessible to all Nigerians, regardless of age, background, or literacy level, adding the project aligns with the Federal Government’s newly reformed national curriculum for basic and senior secondary schools.
He affirmed that the AI literacy project is designed to simplify artificial intelligence concepts and promote responsible technology use through community-based learning. It will also focus on digital ethics, inclusion, and safety.
Alausa said the programme will feature educational materials such as flashcards, storybooks, and radio drama series in local languages including Yoruba, Hausa, and Pidgin English, noting that these will help learners understand AI through relatable stories and practical examples.
The Communication Director revealed plans to train teachers, parents, and youth leaders to serve as advocates for responsible technology use within their communities also to collaborate with innovation hubs in Osun and Kwara States to sustain continuous learning and mentorship.
Alausa noted that the project will include a national essay competition for tertiary students to encourage innovative thinking on how AI can address Nigeria’s social and economic challenges.
He stated that the initiative will work closely with the Ministries of Education in Osun and Kwara States to integrate AI literacy into schools and ensure alignment with the Federal Government’s education reforms.
The communication Boss said the goal is to reach over 100,000 learners across the country within the first year of the project, while reaffirming the organization commitment to helping Nigerians understand and apply AI tools responsibly in daily life, education, and business.
Mr. Sanni Alausa emphasized that the initiative marks a new phase in Nigeria’s education and technological development, aiming to empower citizens to not only use technology but to shape it for national growth.

“As we roll out AI Literacy for Everyday People, we are guided by a simple principle that collaboration multiplies impact. Our strategy is to link government leadership, civil society experience, and private innovation into one coordinated effort that ensures every Nigerian, regardless of where they live, can access quality AI education.
“At the national level, we applaud the Federal Government of Nigeria for taking a courageous step with its new basic and senior secondary curriculum. By embedding creativity, skills, and digital awareness, the government has set the stage for a new kind of learning, one that reflects our nation’s realities and aspirations.
