Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has addressed the people of Rivers State, reiterating his administration’s commitment to upholding the constitutional order and the rule of law.

The governor’s statement comes amidst ongoing political tensions orchestrated by the declaration of a state of emergency by President Bola Tinubu, which has raised concerns about the potential impact on the state’s stability and development.

In the statement, Governor Fubara began by acknowledging the efforts made to broker peace in the state, including the intervention of President Tinubu.

He noted that, in good faith, his administration had implemented the agreed terms, including welcoming back commissioners who had previously resigned of their own volition.

The governor also highlighted his administration’s swift compliance with the Supreme Court’s judgment, when he received a certified true copy of the judgment, to return the state to normalcy.

These steps, according to Governor Fubara, were taken not for personal gains but to foster peace, unity, and stability in the state.

Despite these efforts, Governor Fubara expressed disappointment that members of the Rivers State Assembly had frustrated his administration’s efforts to promote peace and progress.

He emphasised that his priorities remain the security of lives and property, as well as advancing the well-being and prosperity of the people of Rivers State.

However, the governor assured the people of Rivers State that, despite the challenges, his administration has continued to deliver on its promises.

He noted that salaries have been paid, and great projects are being executed to move the state forward.

The governor also emphasised that Rivers State remains safe, secure, and peaceful under his watch.

In conclusion, Governor Fubara urged the people of Rivers State to remain peaceful and law-abiding.

He assured them that his administration would engage with all relevant institutions to ensure that the state’s democracy remains strong and continues to thrive.

The governor expressed his confidence in the resilience of the people of Rivers State and their unwavering faith in the democratic process.
