Beiersdorf unveils new product

Beiersdorf has officially launched its dermatologist-recommended brand, Eucerin, in Nigeria, reinforcing its commitment to delivering scientifically proven skincare tailored to African skin.

The launch event took place recently in Lagos. Eucerin, backed by over 120 years of dermatological research, is designed to address hyperpigmentation, acne, dry skin, and sun protection.

According to a statement, this marks a significant milestone for Beiersdorf, the maker of NIVEA, as it expands its product offerings in Nigeria with a solution rooted in medical science.

Speaking at the event, the Country Manager for Beiersdorf Nigeria, Oladele Adeyole, emphasised the urgent need for safe skincare alternatives, referencing NAFDAC’s 2021 alert on the dangers of unregulated bleaching creams.

“People often resort to bleaching as a cosmetic fix, but today, beauty has evolved into a health and moral issue,” he said.

Also, the General Manager for Central, East, and West Africa, Mathieu Levasseur, highlighted Beiersdorf’s longstanding presence in Nigeria through NIVEA and expressed pride in introducing Eucerin.”

The Regional Medical Manager for Africa and the Middle East, Nathalie Gemayel, revealed that Eucerin sells a product every two seconds globally, citing over 1,000 clinical studies conducted in six years.

Meanwhile, a UK-based Consultant Dermatologist and Laser Specialist, Prof Firas Al-Niaimi, gave a keynote scientific presentation highlighting the physical and emotional impact of skin concerns like acne and hyperpigmentation.

He stressed that, unlike hydroquinone, Thiamidol preserves natural pigmentation, avoids toxicity, and is safe even during pregnancy.

It mentioned that four essential facial care products were officially launched, including the Even Pigment Perfector Dual Serum, the Even Pigment Perfector Day & Night Cream, the Dermopurifier Triple Effect Serum for acne-prone skin, and a specialised range of sun protection products designed for oily, pigmented, and ageing skin.

The panel discussion featured top Nigerian dermatologists, including Prof Ayesha Akinkugbe, Dr Cynthia Ebie, and Dr Omatighene Obaro, who affirmed Thiamidol as the most effective Tyrosinase inhibitor from over 50,000 compounds tested.
