A security expert for East and West Africa, Brant Philip has claimed that the ringleader of the failed attempted Benin Republic coup, Lt. Colonel Pascal Tigri, reportedly fled to Lomé, Togo.
Naijaonpoint recalls that Benin Republic had declared Lt Col. Pascal Tigri and two other soldiers wanted over a failed coup in the West African country.
Tigri failed in his attempt to oust the administration of President Patrice Talon.
Following his failure, the country’s constitutional authorities declared him wanted on Monday.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed this in a post on 𝕏.
In a post on 𝕏 on Wednesday, Brant Philip wrote: “According to reports, the leader of the Benin coup Pascal Tigri did in fact flee to Lomé, the capital of Togo, following the failed coup attempt. The Togolese president Gnassingbé also allegedly visited Niamey, Niger, last night where he met with the Nigerien junta leader Tiani.”
In a previous post on Monday, Philip had disclosed that Beninese aircraft was sighted flying over Togo’s airspace.
He wrote: “Very strange, Beninese Air Force ISR aircraft from Parakou circling over Aneho, southwestern Togo, did some of the putschists flee to the neighboring country?”
