Benue PDP Youth Leader, Francis Ibya, Dies After Brief Illness

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in Benue State has been thrown into mourning following the death of its State Youth Leader, Hon. Francis Atondo Ibya, popularly known as Jahman.

In a statement on Sunday, the State Publicity Secretary, Tim Nyor, said Ibya died on August 9, 2025, after a brief illness.

Naijaonpoint reports that the State Chairman, Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji, described the loss as “devastating” to both the party and the state, noting that Ibya was a loyal and dedicated member who embodied the core ideals of the PDP.

A native of Mbayegh Council Ward in Ushongo Local Government Area, Ibya was celebrated for his passion for mobilising and mentoring young people in politics.

“The virtues he embodied and his zeal for youth empowerment will remain an enduring legacy in our political history,” the party stated.

The State Working Committee extended condolences to Ibya’s family, friends, and associates, pledging the party’s full support during this period of grief.

The family is expected to announce burial arrangements in due course. The PDP prayed for the repose of his soul and for God’s comfort upon all who mourn him.

In other news, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to unveil its zoning formula for the 2027 general election on August 25, 2025.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the timetable and schedule of activities lined up by the PDP indicated that the committee on zoning, led by the governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Duoye Diri, is to meet this week in Abuja, on the assignment.

According to The Nigerian Tribune, the document, signed by the National Organising Secretary of the party, Honourable Umar M. Bature, showed that the programmes would run from August 24 to December 2025.
