Benue senator reacts after arsonists burnt down his house

Senator Dr. Titus Tartenger Zam has reacted to the recent arson attack in Naka, describing it as a shameful act of destruction.

In a statement addressing the incident, he expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in Onov-Mbaaondo village, Gyaruwa community, where bandits killed several youths, triggering unrest in the area.

The senator revealed that his house, along with several other properties, was destroyed during the violence.

He attributed the attack to irate youths who, in their anger, targeted individuals based on three main criteria: political leadership, economic status within the Tyoshin community, and personal grievances fueled by mischief and envy.

“While I deeply mourn the lives lost, I have provided financial support to the bereaved families for the burial of their loved ones.

“I have also made efforts to personally reach out to my brothers and friends whose properties were set ablaze,” he stated.

Senator Zam expressed uncertainty about which of the three factors made him a target but acknowledged that, by local standards, he could not have escaped the wrath of the arsonists.

He assured the public that he would respond to the situation systematically, leveraging both his mental and material resources to take appropriate action in the coming days.

Expressing gratitude to those who have reached out to offer sympathy and support, he reaffirmed his commitment to the Tar Tyoshin community, emphasizing that he remains steadfast in serving the people by the grace of God.
