The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ehaje Ward II, Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State, held an emergency meeting on Wednesday in Owukpa in response to growing rumours of mass defections to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) across the state.
The meeting, convened on the directive of party leaders, was well attended by both current and former ward executive members.
In his remarks, the Ward Chairman, Hon. Austin Agbo Ikwuta, cautioned against political double-dealing, warning party executives not to “play PDP by day and ADC by night.”
He described such actions as a betrayal of trust and dismissed the recent wave of defections as politically inconsequential.
He said, “Ehaje Ward II remains PDP and will remain PDP. No amount of rumours or political noise can shake our structure.
“You cannot wear the PDP cloth in the daytime and dance at ADC rallies at night. That is not loyalty, that is betrayal.
“Those jumping ship now were never rooted in the party. They are politically irrelevant and won’t be missed.”
Also speaking, a senior ward leader and former lawmaker, Hon. Matthew Abba, expressed appreciation to the party elders and executives for their steadfastness and loyalty to the PDP despite mounting pressures to jump ship.
Delivering a message on behalf of Senator Abba Moro, Mr Godwin Ameh, reassured members of the senator’s continued commitment to the PDP.
“Senator Moro remains a loyal and committed member of the PDP and is not part of any political coalition.
“Let me be clear: Senator Abba Moro remains firmly with the PDP. He is not part of any coalition and has no plans to leave the party.
“Senator Moro believes in the strength of the grassroots. That’s why he’s counting on you, the ward leaders and faithful, to stay the course,” Ameh said.
