A lightweight setup for AR gaming experience.

TECNO managed to leave a rather good impression at this year’s IFA in Berlin. The company did not launch any new smartphones, but it did show off several interesting tech products. In addition to the TECNO Dynamic 1, its first robot dog, TECNO also delivered the Pocket Go, an AR handheld setup. We’ve decided to award the TECNO Pocket Go with one of our ‘Best of IFA 2024’ awards.

The TECNO Pocket Go offers a “6D immersive gaming experience”

The TECNO Pocket Go consists out of a gamepad and AR glasses, basically. This setup is fueled by the AMD Ryzen 7 (8840HS), a very powerful processor. TECNO also included 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM here, and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD drive. On top of all that, a 50Wh battery is included here too. TECNO says that this is the “world’s smallest AR handheld unleashing the largest vision”.

The company also mentioned that the TECNO Pocket Go offers a “6D immersive gaming experience”. It comes with a vision track, adaptive posture, audio vibration enhancement, sensory sync, and a number of other capabilities. TECNO says that you can essentially get a 215-inch TV in front of your eyes, viewed from 6 meters. So that’s quite a large canvas that you’re getting here.

These AR glasses do look quite futuristic

If you check out the image provided above, you’ll see both the glasses and a gamepad. The glasses do look quite futuristic, though we still don’t have all the details on them. The gamepad has a rather usual setup. You do get four shoulder keys, two analog sticks, and you standard array of buttons on the right. A D-pad is also included on the left, well, something that resembles a D-pad at least.

The TECNO Pocket Go is “lightweight and portable”, says teh company. It will be interesting to test out this setup. It’s an interesting combo and does seem promising, so we’ll see. It did manage to get some serious attention at IFA 2024, though.
