Nigerian international Nathan Tella has named Harry Kane as the Bundesliga’s outstanding striker but insists Nigeria and Bayer Leverkusen teammate Victor Boniface deserves recognition among the league’s elite, Soccernet.ng reports.
Nathan Tella and Victor Boniface were part of the Leverkusen side that made history last year by winning the Bundesliga title for the first time.
Boniface, in his debut year in Germany, impressed so much that he was named Rookie of the Year, finishing with 14 league goals despite injury setbacks.
Last season was, however, more difficult for the Nigerian. A combination of fitness problems and loss of form has seen him fall behind Patrik Schick in the pecking order.
Even so, former Arsenal and Southampton man Tella believes Boniface still ranks highly among Germany’s best forwards.
Asked by SportsBoom.com who he considers the league’s most clinical striker, Tella had no hesitation.
“Harry Kane is the best striker in the Bundesliga,” he said.
“I won’t lie, it’s difficult to argue that, because we can see the number of goals that he’s scored for Bayern Munich. We still have to give respect to other strikers in the league.
“Obviously Victor Boniface and Patrick Schick, they are my teammates and very good as well. There is competition in the league with good players, but I’ll say Kane tops this league at the moment.
“Of course we have Serhou Guirassy and some other really good strikers in the league.”

Kane’s numbers support Tella’s verdict. Since arriving at Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, the England captain has scored 62 goals in 63 Bundesliga appearances, averaging a strike every 92 minutes. The Englishman has also secured back-to-back Torjägerkanone awards, becoming only the seventh player in Bundesliga history to do so.
Over the weekend, Kane added yet another to his tally, scoring in Bayern’s German Super Cup win over Stuttgart — his 86th goal in 92 matches for the club across all competitions.

Victor Boniface set for Bundesliga exit
Meanwhile, Victor Boniface could soon be swapping Germany for Italy after only two years at Bayer Leverkusen.
The 24-year-old is close to joining AC Milan on loan from Leverkusen, with an option for a permanent deal. Having already played in Norway, Belgium, and Germany, the move would make another step in the Nigerian striker’s European adventure.
