Birdman Reveals Why He’s Touring With NBA YoungBoy

Birdman

Birdman has been on the road with NBA YoungBoy, and when asked why, he offered a very interesting perspective on the necessity of his presence on the road.

“I’m not about to let my little bro f–k the money up,” Birdman told DJ Akademiks. “I love him. That’s why I’m out here.”

Birdman and his Cash Money Records label have faced allegations of bad business for years.

Lil Wayne took label executive Birdman to court in 2015, filing a $51 million lawsuit that accused him of breach of contract, withholding payments tied to his long-delayed album Tha Carter V, and improperly retaining the Young Money Records copyright.

The legal battle dragged on for three years before the case was settled in June 2018. An undisclosed payout from Universal Music Group ended the dispute, releasing Lil Wayne from his Cash Money Records contract and giving him full ownership of his music and assets.

Birdman has always denied claims of exploiting his artists, but it is reported that YoungBoy is close to resigning a deal with his label, reported to be worth upwards of $200 million.
