Blackburn Rovers head coach Valerien Ismael has confirmed that his side will have to make do without the talents of Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Dennis when they welcome Sheffield Wednesday to Ewood Park on Tuesday, Footynaija.com reports.

Dennis, on loan from Premier League surprise packages Nottingham Forest, is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury.

The Nigeria international was absent from Blackburn’s recent defeats to Portsmouth and Middlesbrough in the EFL Championship.

The former Watford star has logged just 145 minutes in total for the Rovers, starting in just one of his four appearances for Ismael’s side since arriving from Forest in the January transfer window.

Speaking to Rovers TV ahead of Blackburn’s date with Sheff Wed, Ismael, while offering a general squad fitness update revealed that while there were no new casualties, he was yet to welcome any previously injured player back into the fold.

“We’ve not lost anyone from the game against Middlesbrough, which is good news,” the French boss said.

“All the players have recovered from that game and give us the possibility of making changes.

“This week won’t be possible for some who are injured, but we’re hopeful that they will be back next week to give us more options and a different profile.”

In the absence of Dennis, the Rovers will be looking to turn their terribly appalling form around. They are winless in their last seven games, drawing one game and suffering five consecutive defeats within that time.

With six games to go this season and a playoff place finish virtually out of their reach, Ismael and his charges will be looking to try and maintain their position in the top half of the Championship side.
