‘Bola Tinubu Is His Own Cabal, He’s Behaving Like An Alpha Male’ – Segun Sowunmi

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Segun Sowunmi, has submitted that President Bola Tinubu operates a structure that does not allow his appointees to be fully effective in their roles.

Dismissing insinuations of a cabal within the Tinubu government, Sowunmi accused the President of doing everything by himself and limiting those assigned to different roles from delivering their mandates.

According to him, President Tinubu is the only cabal within his administration because everything starts and ends at his table, and nobody can take responsibility for actions or inactions.

Speaking during an interview appearance with TVC on Tuesday, the former governorship candidate of the PDP in Ogun State, said things need to change before it gets too messy.

He specifically mentioned that President Tinubu is clipping the wings of his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, making it difficult to execute the functions of the office.

He said: “The problem with the Bola Tinubu presidency is not so much of a cabal. The problem I see with the Bola Tinubu presidency is that somehow he has designed an infrastructure of his government that does not allow the men he has put in place to do the job they are assigned.

“Take as an example, if he just allows Gbajabiamila, his Chief of Staff, to do the job of a chief of staff effectively and not multi-everything, somebody else could be the fall guy.

“If you allow Gbajabiamila to profile and do that work the way we’ve always known him, then people can say he is the cabal, But who is the cabal in Bola Tinubu? Bola Tinubu is his own cabal. He is the only one who knows by what magic he does this and who he does. Nobody can take responsibility, so nobody can be blamed.

“All the other leaders used to allow their chief of staff to be strong, conveniently so so that even when people are complaining, he can sometimes say don’t mind Gbaja, I’ll see what I can do, but he’s not doing that. He has watered it down so much, almost making it seem like he’s the alpha male, he’s the only one and unfortunately, the presidency is like a golden cage. You will be sitting down there, and those you don’t give power will go and do things for you, they won’t be able to effect anything, and when the cloud is gathering, you Yoruba people, I’m telling you, you better fix your mess before it gets too late.”
