Suspected Boko Haram insurgents abducted 13 farmers, including 12 girls aged 15–20 and one elderly woman, from Mussa village in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State on Saturday.
The victims, all from nearby Huyim community, were harvesting crops when the gunmen struck. One of the abducted girls escaped captivity and returned home on Sunday, according to local sources and Senator Ali Ndume’s media aide, Junaid Jibrin.
Jibrin confirmed the escapee has been reunited with her family and is providing security agencies with critical intelligence about the incident and the abductors’ location.
In a separate incident the same night, insurgents attacked Magumeri LGA headquarters, burning houses, vehicles, and equipment belonging to the Civilian Joint Task Force, though no fatalities were reported.
Borno State Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Askira urged security forces to act swiftly to rescue the 12 remaining captives and called on residents to stay calm while sharing any useful information with authorities.
