Borno State has taken the lead in Nigeria’s ongoing voter online pre-registration exercise, according to the latest data released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
As of week nine, INEC reported that a total of 8,003,196 Nigerians had completed their online pre-registration, with Borno recording 826,130, the highest figure across the country.
Osun followed with 646,580 pre-registrations, while Lagos ranked third with 604,819. Kebbi came next with 581,135, slightly ahead of Kaduna, which had 510,490. Ogun State registered 510,062, and Kano trailed with 421,941. Other top-performing states included Kogi with 361,233, Zamfara with 304,065, and Yobe with 292,714.
Mid-table figures show Jigawa with 284,384 pre-registrations, while the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recorded 228,264. Oyo State registered 224,713, followed by Katsina with 205,933, Sokoto with 209,392, and Nasarawa with 183,519. Bauchi posted 181,671, while Delta had 160,188. Kwara recorded 142,084, followed by Cross River with 119,773 and Ekiti with 114,244.
Further down the list, Imo recorded 109,245, Niger 107,153, and Gombe 103,150. Plateau followed with 93,963, while Rivers registered 82,840 and Adamawa registered 80,556. Taraba posted 65,684, Akwa Ibom 60,638, Benue 53,747, and Bayelsa 52,957.
At the lower end, Enugu recorded 25,541, Ondo 17,618, Ebonyi 13,979, Edo 11,570, and Abia 11,221, the lowest number in the country.
INEC also disclosed that 1,710,450 voters have completed their Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) nationwide as of Week Eight. The figure includes 956,566 online pre-registrations and 753,884 physical registrations.
The electoral body noted that voter registration in Anambra State remains suspended, in line with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022, until after the state’s governorship election slated for November 8, 2025.
Until recently, South-West states, particularly Osun, Lagos, and Ogun, had consistently topped the CVR charts since the exercise began on August 18, 2025. However, the latest figures show a remarkable rise in participation from northern states, led by Borno and Kebbi.
