AFC Bournemouth have joined a growing list of European clubs monitoring FC Basel forward Philip Otele, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Premier League side has identified the Nigerian as a possible replacement for Antoine Semenyo ahead of the January window.

Otele’s rise in Switzerland has not gone unnoticed. The 26-year-old has impressed since joining Basel from UAE Pro League club Al Wahda, first on loan and now on a permanent deal, and has attracted interest from clubs across England and mainland Europe.

The Cherries view the Basel attacker as a like-for-like option, given his pace and goal output across domestic and European competitions.

Otele has continued to deliver this season as a reliable scorer, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 16 league appearances for the RotBlau.

Spotmedia, citing GiveMeSport, reports that Palace and Birmingham have already added Otele to their lists, which shows the breadth of interest from both Premier League and Championship sides, as well as top-flight clubs in Spain, Germany and France.

What it would cost to secure Otele

Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Otele is keen on a move to the Premier League, but any deal will not come cheaply. Basel are expected to demand between €8m and €10m to sanction a transfer.

Transfermarkt currently values Otele at €5m, reflecting his steady rise since his permanent move at the end of the 2024/25 season.
