The Awujale of Ijebuland, Sikiru Kayode Adetona, has died at the age of 91.
Naijaonpoint reports that the monarch passed away on Sunday, just a few hours after the demise of former President, Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Western Post, a reliable source close to the Awujale’s Palace in Ijebu-Ode and officials within the Ogun State Government confirmed the monarch’s death on Sunday.
Oba Adetona, a longtime friend of Buhari, ascended the throne in 1960 and was one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning traditional rulers and a highly respected voice among Yoruba monarchs and across the country.
